First of all, WOW.
On 31 July, we reached out to our Facebook friends and asked for some assistance in helping us do some good for our furry friends.
We could never have imagined just how big the need is for this kind of support, and the devoted network that these organisations have.
We had managed to set aside R7,500 to give back to those who give so much of themselves to take care of cats and dogs in need.
We wanted to recognise the many heroes out there, and to assist them to continue with their good work. Rather than picking an organization ourselves, we thought we’d ask you guys who we should help with this small contribution.
The truly massive response we achieved was astounding. Thank you so much for all your comments and stories. People who love animals really are the best people.
After a long discussion and a few tears, we’ve decided to give our donation to Husky Rescue KZN and Gudwulfs Pit Bull rescue, who do such an incredible job. We’re also increasing the amount we’re donating to R10,000 which will be split equally between the two organisations.
There are so many amazing organisations out there. We wish we could help all of them. We can’t, but we’re sure going to try. We’re going to set aside some money every month and ask you guys to keep us up to date with who needs a helping hand, as we know that between food, medication, and sudden litters of puppies and kittens, things change all the time.
